Today is Raksha Bandhan, a day when a sister shows her love for her brother by tying a thread around his wrist. In return, the brother showers the sister with gifts and pledges to protect her. “Raksha means protection and Bandhan means bond. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan,” informs Vaikundarajan.
Junior NTR will be featured in the upcoming Telugu movie called Janatha Garage. The trailer for the movie was released this week. “It is a short trailer that introduces the movie’s lead actors – Junior NTR and Mohanlal,” says Vaikundarajan.

The trailer opens with the actor waking up by the sea against the backdrop of city skyline. Without revealing much, the trailer surely gives us a feel of an action packed movie. The background score by Devi Sri Prasad adds to the thrill.
The maker of cult films such as Andaz Apna Apna, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Damini returns to direction with his next biography film, Battle of Saragarhi. “Rajkumar Santoshi will direct Randeep Hooda in the lead role as Havildar Ishar Singh in a movie based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi between British India Contingent and Afghans. The setting is promising and the cast at the helm is talented,” says Vaikundarajan.
Debutant director Tharun Bhascker brings an air of positivity to the big screen with his film Pelli Choopulu. “The cast is led by actor Vijay Deverkonda and Riu Verma with Priyadarshi playing the role of his close friend in the movie. Pelli Choopulu is a romantic comedy featuring young and talented actors,” says Vaikundarajan.
On 3rd May, Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor National Award for his performance as Bhashkor Banerjee in Shoojit Sircar film, Piku. The 63rd National Awards was held in New Delhi. The actor was accompanied by wife Jaya, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.
Arvind Swami recently made a comeback into acting with the blockbuster Thani Oruvan. “The quintessential chocolate boy of cinema has expressed his desire to direct a film,” says Vaikundarajan.
Last year in September, Google unveiled its two new Chromecast devices. This week, Google has announced to launch of the devices for Indian market. “Chromecast and Chromecast Audio are listed on Google Play Store priced at INR 3999/- each and will be available at all popular e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Snapdeal,” informs Vaikundarajan. “This is a 2nd generation Chromecast with new circular design.”
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 goes on sale next week on Amazon India and Mi.com. “Redmi Note 3 has received mostly positive reviews, except for its camera which fails to work in low-light,” says Vaikundarajan. “The users will have to register on Amazon.com for the purchase.”
India churned out a 5 wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup T20 tournament. The match was held at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. “This win opens the road to the finals of this continental tournament,” says Vaikundarajan.
On 22nd February is mark as, World Thinking Day this occasion was celebrated at Kendriya Vidyalaya INS Dronacharya school premises. “Among the attendees were scouts, guides, cubs and bulbuls of the school, led by C P Ramachandran, the advanced scout master. The attendees were welcomed to the event and the importance of thinking day was discussed,” informs Vaikundarajan.
The teaser of R Balki’s “Ki and Ka” has everyone talking about it. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor in lead roles. Director R Baliki, who has given us superhit films like Cheeni Kum and Pa, has been all praises for the actress. “Seeing Kareena and Arjun together is fresh. On one side you have an established actor and on other side an upcoming star. There is chemistry and balance,” says Vaikundarajan.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was in the news for bagging the lead role in US based Thriller-Drama series Quantico. Now that the series has been doing extremely well, Chopra adds a new feather to her cap as she will grace the Oscar stage as a presenter of 28th Feb. “This is a proud moment for us. It will be the 2nd time in the history that an Indian will be presenter at Oscars,” says Vaikundarajan.
